So I am readying to take those two steps forward, those first two steps on my first day of school. I remember back to when I was six, standing in front of a tree in my cute little St. Thomas More uniform, navy blue knee-highs perfectly in place and a goofy, gappy-toothed grin to match my equally goofy Peter Pan collared shirt. I can say with out a doubt that I will not be wearing anything remotely close to this special outfit, for my role has changed a little. I will still - and always will - consider myself a learner, but I will now officially hold the title of teacher rather than student.
The trek for me to get to this point has been a tedious task and I don't regret one tear, one sleepless night or even fighting to keep my 4.0 G.P.A. (Even if it did drive my husband crazy). Over achiever - YES, but with humility and self-doubt to keep an even keel.
And so - here is to making it; to being given the opportunity to see what I am really made out of and to going out and making a positive difference in somebody's life.
I will keep you all posted on this new lifetime endeavor... with my trip-ups and laughs along the way! I will post a picture of my first day of school - teacher style on Monday!
Oh - and on another note - Marek told me that it was "brown" day today, as he came out in his khaki pants, brown shirt and brown sweatshirt. I am thankful for his own way of matching - even if it is a brown day.

Kellie,
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I feel like a bit of a stalker right now, but I saw the link to your blog on facebook and thought I'd check it out. FYI: Room 20 is SO lucky to have you and I know for a fact that those kids love you. Seriously. :)
